Hello. My name is Krystal, who? Krystal, who? *Mike Jones voice* and I figured it was about time I updated you on the blog. I have been working and thinking (way too much) on how to create authentic content and have been driving myself a little bit crazy. Then it dawned on me that I need to let you all know a little bit more about who I am, what I do, and why you should tune in to my little ole blog.
- Who the heck are ya?
I’m a self-professed chronic optimistic, overthinker, with a sharp (and often witty) tongue. I am licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of CT and have held several jobs in the field over the past 8 years. I currently work in a high security prison for males who have been diagnosed with a mental illness.
2. Why did you start a blog?
My friends had bugged me for about a good year before I decided I would take them up on their urging and start writing. They wanted me to start a fashion blog but I felt more compelled to the lifestyle direction with a focus on mental wellness and self-improvement. Given what I do, I become better when I work on myself and I am better able to serve my clients as a result. You all will see my personal journey of self-growth and how I apply clinical mental health practices to my life.
3. Now we know what you do, but what do you do for fun?
Man, listen! My schedule is a beast right now. I work at least 50-60 hours/week because I’m a quest to be debt free (more about that to come). So I take my time off very seriously. I love love love to travel and meet new people. I am obsessed with music, especially old school R&B. There is a song for every time of my life and there is always a song in my head. I also enjoy spending time with my family, working out, reading for leisure, and finding new eats (yay for food!)
4. What are your goals for the blog?
I hope to reach more of you every day and build my own tribe. I am working on starting some webinars and wellness groups that can reach not only my local community, but also my internet fam. I am in the planning stages but will definitely let you know when that is up and running. I am passionate about helping people enjoy who they are right now in this moment in their lives. Enjoying who you are now doesn’t mean you don’t want to continue to grow. In fact, it means having more patience with yourself and knowing true growth comes when we accept and reflect on who we are at the moment. I have a tendency to be very hard on myself and unnecessarily over process aspects of my life. I’m working on changing patterns of thinking and self-talk that no longer serve me. I will share these tools with you.
5. What’s next on the blog?
I’ve decided to focus more on self-care because I haven’t been doing the best with that. Sharing with you all will help me to be accountable. Next will be a mind/body/spirit wellness series. I’m still working on a title but you will see it roll out this month!
