With so much information out here on self-care and wellness and people being bombarded with ads to buy a product or service to feel well, I felt it was my duty to share some ways to take care of yourself that are absolutely free. After all, self-care doesn't have to cost a thing. It is up to us to identify what may or may not work for us and sometimes having a list to reference is helpful.

Dance it out by listening to your favorite ‘get pumped’ song
Take at least five minutes to breath
Meditate or take a yoga class
Get 30 minutes of exercise
Use essential oils like lavender or peppermint in a diffuser or sprayed on your pillow to aid in relaxation
Take a mental health day- use those sick days! That's what they're there for
Enjoy nature by taking a walk or hike. Nature has healing vibes.
Enjoy a favorite meal.
Listen to a podcast
Read a book
De-clutter your space. That always helps me to think better
Take a bath or shower
Light a scented candle
Call a friend up and have a conversation
Give yourself a massage or ask your partner or kid for a helping hand
A good cup of tea or coffee. These items are always in my cabinet.
Take a short drive
Give yourself a manicure or pedicure
Donate items you don't use
Volunteer at a local shelter, school, or church
Challenge your brain with a word find, Sudoku, or crossword
Color or draw
Hug. Give or accept one or give yourself a hug!
